Syeda Sharmin Akter Principal Nutritionist has been working on health and nutrition for twenty-three years. Her career started from 'ICDDR, B'. She started various research work to solve health and nutrition problems with the vow of health service. Her research on health problems of different ages starting from children and teenagers has also been published in local and foreign journals. She established the Diet Counseling Center in 2004 in Bangladesh. Through free motivation programs, seminars, and symposiums, she has always given priority to nutrition in maintaining the external and internal beauty of human beings.
Syeda Sharmin Akter is one of the most experienced nutritionists in Bangladesh, having consulted thousands of satisfied patients. Her special interests are diet counseling to both adults and children dealing with a variety of nutritional concerns, weight management, diabetes, eating disorders, cardiac rehabilitation, sports nutrition, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, pregnancy, lactation, menopause, and balanced diet food. She was the founder and CEO of Diet Counseling Centre in 2004 and has been performing as a Nutrition Consultant for reputed hospitals and diet counseling centres since 2005.
She received her bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from the University of Dhaka and a Master of Science in Food and Nutrition from Dhaka University. At the beginning of her career, she completed a five-year research of Nutrition counseling and Dietary education for the child, adolescents, men, and women. She has attended international conferences over the years and spent a long time in the field of nutrition and diet therapy at ICDDR, B. Dhaka (1998-2003) as an experienced research trainer.
She is a Master Teacher and Trainer for Nutrition and diet therapy courses, has written food and nutrition-related books, and is frequently requested for valuable articles, and speech for both print and electronic media. She also achieved the Best Nutritionist Award (Shahabuddin Gold Medal) in 2010 and the Best Nutritionist Award (Mahatma Gandhi Gold Medal) in 2010.
